Hi soulful spirits. Today I'm sharing a few of my favourite things and latest projects. It's been a little while since I shared some Friday link love with you but I figured a day early would be fine with you!
In keeping my core desired feelings in check, this post will share some nourishing and creative things associated with and honouring the core desired feelings I chose in January 2014. Now that I've reviewed each of them I can happily say that they are still the ones that continue to resonate with me most. How cool is that? It take a lot of effort to truly know yourself, so I encourage you to do some inner work - like stream of consciousness writing and time to yourself which will allow you to assess where you are at and where you would like to go.
If at this point you are wondering what are 'core desired feelings', check out www.daniellelaporte.com. #thedesiremap
What's keeping me NOURISHED:
Box subscriptions are increasing in popularity and the clever folk at The Vegan Box released their first beauty box this month. The goodies are amazing!. What more can you ask for? The Hurraw! Black Cherry lip balm has been my favourite lip balm for the past year and I've gone through 2 of these myself already. The one in the box was warmly received (okay, taken!) by my daughter who loves lip balm (she has 4 flavours of Hurraw!). The Black Cherry one has a lovely tint and is suitable for those who like some colour, but don't want to wear a sticky lip gloss or lipstick. The Meow Meow Tweet Chai Scrub is addictive (and edible - of course I tasted it!) and the deodorant is very effective and gentle. The Wotnot face wipes are great for removing all makeup and they are biodegradable too.
As they say on their website:
"The Vegan Beauty Box is the easy way to discover luxurious, cruelty free and organic brands for your body.
Delivered straight to your door each season, you can enjoy entire body nourishment in the form of natural, chemical free and palm-oil free beauty products. No nasty parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, parrafin, lead, SLS, PABA..... or other dodgy ingredients!"
Orders are still being taken for the 1 August delivery so jump in now for a surprise selection of lovely treats. The perfect self love gift!
I haven't tried all the products in this box yet so stay tuned for a follow up post.
In February this year I decided to receive my first attunement - Reiki I training. For the 18 months prior reiki had provided me the much needed healing for traumatic experiences and energy blocks in my life. I have a wonderful Reiki practitioner/massage therapist named Andrea, but felt I needed to received Reiki training in order to attain a greater level of healing on a daily basis. I'm not saying Reiki is a cure all or solves all life problems, but it certainly has been an effective treatment for me on a soul level. I was amazed at the immediate effect following the attunement. I actually felt physically sick for no reason. My body was detoxing. Within a few hours the sickness passed and I continued to self-reiki for the prescribed time. My self awareness has grown and reiki alongside all the other forms of healing and spirituality I follow have combined to nourish and support me with whatever lies ahead.
I'm just about to receive Reiki II training. I have felt ready to take this next step for a couple of months now. I intend to offer Reiki services via distance and this will also infuse into my jewellery business via my gemstone pieces and upcoming crystal sets and altar vignettes with cruelty-free, naturally moulted feathers. I talk about this more in future posts.
How I'm being COURAGEOUS and a CREATIVE ARTISTA:
I'm ramping my jewellery production in preparation for the BrisStyle Indie Market next month.
Here's a sneak peek of a few items in progress - textured earrings and just one word pendants and custom mantra bangles. I'm also in the process of getting the Artista Creative logo designed and all the work associated with sourcing packaging and display set up. That's right I took the leap into creating a new handcrafted jewellery brand and named it after one core desired feeling! It is quite a busy time juggling this alongside a day job.
Anyone who knows me well enough knows about all my artistic and soul searching pursuits and will be familar with Brave Girls Club. I have done almost all the online art and life classes created by Melody Ross and Kathy Wilkins. Of course I jumped when I read they were launching Soul School, a monthly subscription box package of arty goodness to get you creating and nurturing your creative spirit. I'll do a review of my Soul School package when it arrives.
How I'm staying CONNECTED:
I've recently joined the Sacred Sisterhood created by writer/yogi/wild soul Kristen Hedges. A wonderful, soul-filled international online female community of kindred spirits. It's free to join, just click here. If you are in the USA, you are in luck as Kristen has a Retreat organised for May 2015! I wish I could go!
I'm an avid reader, so much so that I always have at least 5 books on the go! If you don't have time for that, make time for the excellent and informative BUST magazine. You may or may not have heard of it before but it is a publication that has been going strong since the 1990's. The photo below says it all really. It is a smart, funny and fierce magazine so unlike the newsstand magazines women are accustomed to. I'm an affiliate now after enjoying 12 months of gutsy page turning bliss! If you are interested in this tome, you can check it out and subscribe here. Digital subscriptions are only US$14.95 for the year! Bargain!
What WHOLEHEARTED is to me:
All of my core desired feelings combine and sit within my definition of being wholehearted. To live wholeheartedly, authentically, means for me to know myself, respect myself, honour my choices and make decisions based on how I think & feel, using my intuition which will not waver under the pressure of external factors. I have worked on my boundaries mentally and energetically and it is the recipe that works for me. I'll end here with perfect clarity by sharing this manifesto by author and research professor Brene Brown (a champion of wholehearted and authentic living.
I'd love to know what you think. What projects are you working on? What new discoveries have you made? What are your core desired feelings? Did you revise them mid-year? If you have a blog post you'd like to share, please enter in the comments and I will stop by and visit your blog : ) I love reading emails from my readers, so don't hesitate to drop me an email if there's anything you'd like to email me about privately.
