Been thinking hard about intentions and choosing a word for the year while I work through Leonie Dawson's Incredible Life workbook. I'd been listening to Hole on my walks home from work for a little while now and connected with the lyrics in their song 'Malibu', particularly:
"Help me please, burn the sorrow from your eyes
Oh, come on, be alive again
Don't lay down and die" and
"Oceans of angels, oceans of stars
Down by the sea is where you drown your scars,
I can't be near you
The light just radiates"
We all interpret lyrics and poetry in a way that makes sense to us. To me, this song sad and uplifting at the same time. Yeah, I know what this song is truly about. Go ahead and do a search online and have a read. But I take from this song a few messages, about setting myself free from the sadness and pain of the past, to let go. I know this wasn't the intent of the song, but hey, like I said we apply our own feelings and interpret the words in our own way.
So Radiate, that's my word of the year. One word alone can not encompass what I want to remind myself this year, or what my mission for 2013 is. Radiate is a word that lifts, it is a word of light and that's what I want to remind myself when I feel down. It's bound to happen, we all have dark days for whatever reason.
My intentions this year are to:
Radiate Positivity - be positive in my thoughts and messages to others
Radiate Truth - be true to myself
Radiate Energy - nourish myself and guide others towards regular self-care practice
Radiate Strength - harness my inner strength to successfully pursue my creative endeavours
What is your word of the year? What intentions have you set for yourself? Do you goal set at the start of the year, or throughout?
